Foreign Nurses in Ireland?

Hi there. I'm planning to register as nurse in Ireland. I've already sent my applications and awaiting my pack to proceed with the registration. I know that in order to be fully registered, one requirement is to undergo a competence essment program which will also require placement. My question is, do I need to find a school to undergo such programme and will they be the one to look for a placement for me, if not, how do i apply for such in registered hospitals. you're help will be very much appreciated.
