How do I remove the roll cage?

Here's the specs: 1966 chevelle 468 big block, turbo 400, 12 bolt rear with 4.11s and spool, 14 point cage, bare interior. I'm planning on restoring the interior and to use it as a daily driver. Thing is I'm just getting into clic muscle cars and the roll cage is new? for me. I've heard you could just cut the door tubes, and the carpet can cover up the bottom plates. Is this true? Help me out please thanks.
